MISSION UPDATE 2026-10-28 · Solar System

Artemis III SLS Core Stage Integrated with Solid Rocket Boosters at Kennedy Space Center

What Was Observed (Empirical Data)
On October 28, technicians at NASA's Kennedy Space Center transferred the 212-foot Space Launch System (SLS) core stage for the Artemis III mission from High Bay 2 to High Bay 3 inside the Vehicle Assembly Building. Using a specialized lifting beam, the core stage was mated with the twin solid rocket boosters already stacked on the mobile launcher. This represents a mechanical assembly milestone rather than an astronomical measurement or scientific detection.
The Reality Check (Anti-Hype Analysis)
Completing the structural integration of the core stage and boosters is a ground operations milestone and does not resolve remaining flight readiness challenges, such as the development and qualification of the lunar lander or crewed spacesuits. Stacking the propulsion elements inside the Vehicle Assembly Building does not guarantee an immediate launch window or eliminate schedule risks prior to launch pad rollout and wet dress rehearsal testing.
